Rice Krispie Turds

Why yes, I did say turds. I found this recipe over at Divine Dinner Party, and had to put it on the Halloween menu. The kids got a big kick out of it. (My kids range in age from 19 to 24, but I’m sure anyone would enjoy a mouth full of…erm…turds.) My youngest son (21) made these, and while he didn’t quite get the chocolate covered all the way, the effect is still EwWw! I do believe him slurping on the witches brew a little early might of had something to do with that.
What you need:
1 recipe rice krispie treats, which you can find here..*click me!*
12 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening
Prepare your rice krispie treats according to the directions, and shape them into “turd” shapes. Let them cool a bit to set.
In a double boiler or microwave, melt together chocolate chips and shortening, stirring until well combined and smooth.
Using a wooden skewer (or a fork), skewer each “turd,” and dip into warm chocolate to cover.
Set on wax paper, and let cool.
*note* over at divine dinner party, they put little yellow pieces of candy corn on top of the turds to simulate..well, corn! cute, but we ran out of time.
