This recipe was adapted from The Noble Pig, who’s blog I follow religiously, because she has soooOo many delicious recipes to share, and the photos are fantabulous.
She calls her version Cherry-Pineapple Cinnamon Crunch Cake. Yep, she uses cherries, and I love cherries! I made her version first, but my family is all EwW, cherries. (I might add, that it didn’t seem to stop them from devouring the whole thing.) So, this time I made it with canned apple pie filling, and i barely had it out of the oven before my herd of kids were poking it at it with forks. YUM. Guess this one is a winner. And easy!
So let’s call this one Pineapple Apple Yum Cake.
Shall we begin?
Preheat oven to 350 farenheit
1 Box Yellow or white Cake Mix
1 can crushed pineapple, undrained in syrup
1 can apple pie filling
1/2 cup butter, cubed
Ground cinnamon, as much as you want
Pour one can of crushed pineapple with juice into the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan and spread evenly.
Pour one can of apple pie filling on top of the pineapple and spread evenly as well.
Sift one box of yellow or white cake mix evenly over the apple-pineapple mixture.
Slice one stick (1/2 cup) of cold butter into pieces and place on top of the cake mix, and cover the top with enough cinnamon that it makes you happy.
Place in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. The apple pie filling will be bubbling out the sides, and the top will be lightly browned.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
I was thinking that sweetened flake coconut might be good mixed in with the pineapple-apple mixture. Think i’ll try that next time.
And here is Andie, one of my girls, and kitchen helper for the day, showing off our delicious masterpiece before it hit the oven. See, now you’re famous!
